6 Ways to Cope with What's Going on in the World Right Now.

Let’s face it, 2020 so far has been tough. From the coronavirus, to being locked in our homes, uncertainty of jobs, brutal killing of George Floyd and other blacks, now protests all over America— it’s downright overwhelming. It’s ok, if you feel vulnerable, confused or don’t know what to do right now. We hear you, we feel you and we care about you. We know that you are human dealing with a myriad of emotions right now. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, here are some ways to cope and regain your sanity in a world that’s being turned upside down.
🧖🏾♀️ Take a personal day to sit and be still. You’ve been through a lot and while it’s ok to appear strong, you need a break.
📺 Turn off the news for at least 24 hours. Being informed is great but not at the expense of your mental health. News channels tend to sensationalize issues for more ratings which can incite fear, anxiety and panic.
🙏🏾 Pray and meditate. There isn’t a better time than now to connect with God and find peace for your soul.
😢 Cry if you need to. Find somewhere private and cry your eyes out!! It’s ok, we are here for you girl. If we could we would sit next to you and hold your hands and let you know that we’re in it with you.
🍃 Go outside and leave the phone and electronics in your house or car. Find a local park that’s open and sit under a shaded tree. Observe nature, touch the grass, take off your shoes and feel the grass between your toes. Look up at the sky and daydream. Do this for at least 30 mins to reset your mind.
📃 Write down your feelings. This may sound mundane but sometimes it is better to write down what you’re feeling than to call and friend and tell them how you feel. Write down your thoughts and feeling- it is very freeing.
